Kakapo at Wellington Zoo

On Saturday 24th of April I went to the Wellington Zoo with Hannah and her mum Mary Ann.
During the day they have sessions where you can see people feeding the animals and they give a lecture where you can go along and find out information about an animal.

We went to a feeding time where they were feeding a sick Kakapo that had been rescued from Codfish Island. The Kakapo is the worlds heaviest parrot. They were telling us about how the Kakapo is in danger of being extinct. There is just over 100 kakapo left in the world. They told us about their website thay have to help save the kakapo www.kakaporecovery.org.nz where we can find more information about the bird. I found the talk interesting because I didn't realise how endangered the Kakapo is.
